Leadership ChallengeMany contemporary studies of the future of U.S. Medical Schools have cited the growing challenge of meeting the need for leaders, now and in the future. The need is driven by the fact that many physicians in leadership roles are at or beyond normal retirement age. The challenge is compounded by the reluctance of younger MD's and MD/Ph.D.'s to seek leadership opportunities.
