– BONE MARROW LABORATORY
The
Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of the Weill Medical College of
Cornell University is seeking an AP/CP Pathologist to serve as Hematopathologist
and Director – Bone Marrow Laboratory. This
will be a full-time appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor level,
with academic rank and compensation commensurate with the level of experience
and scholarly accomplishments. The
candidate will join the busy Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of
a top-ranked clinical and medical research center, one with increasing case
volumes and expanding academic programs.

Department of Pathology and
Laboratory Medicine
The Department of Pathology and
Laboratory Medicine is a complete teaching and clinical facility located at
the main campus of the
Medical
College
on the Upper
East Side of Manhattan. The
Pathology Department includes more that 85 clinical and research faculty and
supports a full academic curriculum for the University's medical students, as
well as academic research, clinical pathology and clinical consulting at the
824-bed
NewYork-Presbyterian
Hospital
.
Hematopathology
and the Bone Marrow Laboratory
The
academic Hematopathologist recruited to serve as Director – Bone Marrow
Laboratory will join a team that includes Dr. Daniel Knowles and Dr. Amy
Chadburn, considered expert diagnostic hematopathologists, and Dr. Ethel
Cesarman, considered one of the world’s foremost molecular hematopathologists.
They and other members of the service are available to consult with clinicians
and provide second opinions for patients in all areas of hematopathology,
including lymph node pathology. In addition, the Hematopathology service is
closely associated with superb Immunopathology and Molecular Hematopathology
Laboratories which provide ancillary diagnostic support and also serve as core
laboratories for translational research. Thus, all the hematopathologists have
access to the latest immunophenotypic and molecular genetic techniques for
diagnosis and research.
The
Bone Marrow Laboratory will serve as the centralized laboratory handling
inpatient and clinic patient requests for laboratory studies, with
responsibility for complex consultation cases and integration of morphology,
flow cytometry, cytogenetics, molecular data and outcomes.
The Laboratory will offer comprehensive bone marrow morphology and
interpretative studies.
Requirements

Strong
diagnostic skills and be capable of participating in the service
responsibilities of a large, busy and demanding hematopathology service.

Commitment
to an academic career and to publishing original papers in his or her chosen
area of subspecialization.

Interest
in resident education and medical student teaching.
|
 |
Established
expertise in leukemia and lymphoma studies required, along with bone marrow
laboratory service. A record of
scholarly publications and experience in translational research and
molecular pathology highly preferred.

Board
certification, preferably in anatomic and clinical pathology, along with
fellowship training in hematopathology, and eligibility for an unrestricted
medical licensure in
New York
State
