Qinglong Hu, M.D., M.Sc.

Qinglong Hu, M.D., M.Sc., has been appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at Creighton University Medical Center.  Dr. Hu will also serve as Director, Hematopathology Service in the department’s Division of Clinical Pathology.  The appointment was effective in July 2004.

Dr. Hu's primary duties will be in the clinical pathology areas of hematopathology, including  flow cytometry, coagulation, and bone marrow biopsy services.  Additionally, he will have service responsibilities related to hematopathology and to the bone marrow biopsy service at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center/Omaha in the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Department. 

Formerly, Dr. Hu was a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology, College of Medicine, at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada.  He served as Pathologist and Hematopathologist in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Royal University Hospital and the Saskatoon Cancer Centre. 

Dr. Hu completed his pathology residency as Chief Resident at Nassau University Medical Center, an affiliate of SUNY at Stony Brook.  He later completed a Fellowship in Hematopathology at the M D Anderson Cancer Center in Houston .

He completed his medical degree at Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences in Guangzhou, China, and master’s degree and fellowship in medical oncology at the Cancer Institute and Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in Beijing.  In Canada, he earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Toronto in the Department of Medical Biophysics.  

He is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology.  Memberships include the American Society for Clinical Pathology, the College of American Pathologists and the American Society of Hematology.

Dr. Hu and his family have recently relocated from Saskatoon to Omaha.
